Decorating Your Living Room This Holiday Season

By

The holiday season is upon us, and it is time to decorate, or even redecorate, your living rooms so that they can show off your holiday spirit. A living room should be decorated intelligently, so that it provides comfort, while at the same time looks festive. There are several inexpensive, yet creative ways by which you can decorate your living room so that your home is ready to entertain guests, and create a functional, yet cozy environment for the residents.

Decorate Your Walls
Bare walls make the room look incomplete, no matter what accessories you put on the floors and surfaces. However, replacing your wallpaper or buying wall accessories frequently is expensive and inconvenient. When you are decorating your walls for the holiday season, you can get creative. Silver ornaments look good on almost any color, so you can use them for your walls as well. Silver trays in different and abstract shapes can lend your walls with an antique look without costing you too much money. Since it is the holiday season, wreaths and picture frames that have been placed strategically can make your living room come alive.

Creative Surfaces For Your Living Room
When you are decorating your living room for the holidays, you have to make sure that there are enough surfaces to keep things such as flowers, gifts, mugs, etc. because you will be spending a lot of time in there, along with a lot of other people. Get creative with your surfaces by placing baubles and other sparkly ornaments in fruit bowls and on cake stands so that none of your tables are empty. You can even make makeshift tables with a pile of books. Living rooms are all about space and utility, so if you want to increase the amount of space, you can use transparent coffee tables or pastel shades to give the illusion of more space.

Special Additions To our Living Rooms
When you are decorating for the holidays, you have to create a comfortable atmosphere where the residents and guests will be able to relax, while at the same time, be able to enjoy themselves. If you have a mantle or a fireplace, it is the perfect time to make it the focal point of your living room. Adding picture frames, stockings, fruit wreaths etc. will make you feel at home, and can greatly increase the aesthetic appeal of your living room. You can even decorate doorways with tinsels, mistletoe, and long, woven plant ribbons that give the room a warm, inviting atmosphere. You can further decorate with a little spray paint and make unique and colorful ornaments out of old decorations to truly encompass the holiday spirit, and enamor your guests.

Make Room For Comfort
Finally, the element that makes your living room the best place to spend your holidays is the arrangement you make for a comfortable evening. In addition to a warm fire, holiday treats, good food, and proper furnishings, you have to ensure that there is adequate arrangement for people to relax and unwind during the holidays. Sofas, recliners, couches and easy chairs should be placed strategically so that there is enough space to accommodate everyone. At the same time you need space to move around and enjoy yourself during the holidays.
