The Blowfiller will be responsible for obtaining covers and fiber to meet the daily production schedule for upholstery to fill furniture backs and seats.

Equipment Used: Scissors, Box Cutter, Stapler

The Blowfiller will report to and follow the instructions of the lead person as designated by the department supervisor.

 

Education

  • Basic reading and writing skills required.
  • Ability to read, understand, and communicate the English language.
  • Must be able to correctly identify colors.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Must learn to read daily schedule and various styles listed.
  • Understand and prioritize order of assembly in accordance to work schedule.
  • Monitor production throughout the day to maintain required level of production.
  • Identify different covers and colors for respective styles to be filled.
  • Retrieve required parts from storage area for application of materials in accordance to production schedule.
  • Set up work station with raw materials consistent with daily production schedule.
  • Must be able to push/pull loaded buggies for medium to long distances.
  • Must learn to operate Anderson & Bar machines safely and efficiently to meet production requirements and in accordance quantity standards.
  • Must be able to insert seat cushions into cover and regulate in accordance to quality standards and meet production requirements.
  • Must be able to close cushions in accordance to quality standards and meet production requirements.
  • Stacks and stages completed cushions on buggies for upholstery.
  • Insures total quality is used in every step of the job.
  • Inspects cover and sewn parts while filling to insure proper quality standards are used in other departments.
  • Communicates with supervisor, filling lead, and float as needed on questions or problems that occur while performing job.
  • Works closely with other employees on the line to maintain team concept daily.
  • Maintain clean and organized work station.
  • Assist others when necessary.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Safety Responsibilities

Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) should be worn at all times within the department as well as throughout the plant where designated. Safety is enforced each day to prevent any accidents.

  • Immediately report any work related injury or illness.
  • Keep the work area neat and free of hazards. [The use of compressed air without proper safety nozzle is prohibited for clean-up.]
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Always ensure proper lifting techniques: avoid bending and twisting at the waist whenever possible.
  • Inspect tools and protective equipment before use.
  • Learn the hazards of the equipment and procedures used on the job.
  • Report any defective, malfunctioning, or suspicious tool, machine, or protective equipment immediately.
  • Participate in safety training and safety meetings.
  • Report any hazards or risks related to policies or procedures.
