Southern Furniture Industries goal is to provide an attractive wage and benefit package. Shared success is a basic principle of our compensation philosophy.

Associates that work a shift other than first (1st) will receive a shift premium.

Southern Furniture Industries will pay non-exempt associates the overtime premium rate of one and a half times (1.5X) the regular rate for all time worked over forty (40) hours in a payroll week.

SFI has arranged for a pay card provider to offer account services if associates do not have a traditional checking or savings account. Associates may also choose to change from an existing account to the provider may available by the company. At the time of hire, associates are required to present information to include the name of the financial institution, type of account, the routing number, and the account number for direct deposit.

Southern Furniture Industries provides eight hours pay for each of the following holidays to eligible associates after 30-days of full-time service.

  • Good Friday
  • Thanksgiving
  • Memorial Day
  • Day after Thanksgiving
  • Fourth of July
  • Christmas Day

Southern Furniture Industries is committed to providing incentive programs that promote value and improvement throughout all aspects of the operations. There are several key components to the success and profitability of any business. Some of the major drivers are attendance, job performance, quality, process improvement, labor management, finance management, and safety.

The Associate Incentive Program is designed for SFI managers to identify targeted needs for improvement and award associates who can achieve the desired results. Based on the stated key initiatives listed above, focus of the Associate Incentive Program may be shifted to aid in the efforts to improve specific needs of the organization.

Southern Furniture Industries recognizes that bereavement is very difficult. To assist during these times, associates may qualify for 20-hours of pay in the event of a death of an immediate family member or 10-hours of pay in the event of a death of an extended family member.

A keepsake is given in memory of an associate’s spouse, child, mother or father.

When summoned for jury duty, Southern Furniture Industries believes associates should fulfill their civic responsibility. Time off will be allowed with no loss of income for jury duty up to forty (40) hours per scheduled work week. With documentation, associates will receive pay differential up to actual wages lost.

After meeting eligibility requirements, Southern Furniture Industries provides a $15,000 Life Insurance Policy at no cost to associates.

After meeting eligibility requirements, Southern Furniture Industries provides associates a non-contributory short-term disability benefit.

Southern Furniture Industries provides a comprehensive workers’ compensation insurance benefit for all associates. This plan covers any injury or illness sustained in the course and scope of employment.

Mandated contributions to the Social Security and Medicare benefits program are paid by the Company. Southern Furniture Industries matches your contribution for Social Security dollar for dollar, thereby paying one-half the cost of your retirement and Medicare benefits under this act. Associates are eligible to apply for Social Security upon retirement age or becoming disabled.

Southern Furniture Industries funds unemployment insurance through the payment of taxes to the state of Mississippi. If you lose your job through no fault of your own while working at Southern Furniture Industries, you can apply online or at the local WIN Job Center for benefits. Associates may be eligible to receive weekly benefits while unemployed. State law and the Mississippi Department of Employment Security (MDES) determine your eligibility and amount of your benefits.

Our Associate Assistance Program (AAP) helps associates deal with problems in a confidential and safe environment. When personal problems or difficulties are identified and appropriately treated in their early stages, the likelihood of a successful outcome is improved. Associates are encouraged to seek assistance, as needed, from qualified professionals.

Southern Furniture Industries values the professional and personal development of our associates. Full-time, regular associates who have completed six-months of employment are eligible for reimbursement up to 100% of the tuition or registration cost. Classes must be approved prior to enrollment for associates to be eligible for reimbursement.

A one-time reimbursement for taking the High School Equivalency Exam is also available.

The Southern Furniture Industries Scholarship Fund provides qualifying dependent children of associates a one-time scholarship award of $500 for undergraduate degrees. Recipients must enroll and attend the Fall semester following high school graduation. Scholarships are paid directly to the recipient’s account at the community college or bachelor’s degree-granting college/university.

To qualify, applicants must be currently enrolled high school seniors who are looking to continue their education at the next level.

Southern Furniture Industries offers a choice of medical plans for associates who desire comprehensive affordable coverage. After meeting eligibility requirements, associates can obtain coverage for themselves, their spouse and dependents. Prescription Drug Benefits are also included with the medical plans.

Through UnitedHealthcare, UMR and HealthSCOPE Benefits creates and publishes the Machine-Readable Files on behalf of Southern Funiture Industries.

 

Southern Furniture Industries offers a comprehensive dental plan. After meeting eligibility requirements, associates can obtain coverage for themselves, their spouse and dependents.

Southern Furniture Industries offers a comprehensive vision plan. After meeting eligibility requirements, associates can obtain coverage for themselves, their spouse and dependents.

After meeting eligibility requirements, Southern Furniture Industries provides associates a contributory long-term disability benefit.

After meeting eligibility requirements, Southern Furniture Industries offers a 401(k) plan to associates. The purpose of the plan is to assist associates in preparation for retirement.
