The Hardware Assembler will be responsible for assembling hardware in accordance to the required quality and quantity standards. Southern Motion is looking for an operator with the ability to assemble different styles and types of hardware which includes a combination of many different parts and bolts for final assembly.

Equipment Used: Pneumatic tools, Screwdriver, Hammer, Manual Pallet Jack

The Hardware Assembler will report to and follow the instructions of the lead person as designated by the department supervisor.

Education

  • Basic reading and writing skills required.
  • Ability to read, understand, and communicate the English language.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Must learn to read daily schedule and various styles listed.
  • Understand and prioritize order of assembly in accordance to work schedule.
  • Monitor production throughout the day to maintain required level of production.
  • Identify correct parts for respective styles to be assembled.
  • Retrieve required parts from storage area using manual pallet jack.
  • Set up work station with bolts, parts, and tools for each type of hardware.
  • Assemble hardware on swivel fixture using required hand tools and pneumatic tools.
  • Test assembled hardware to ensure proper operation.
  • Identify defective parts and/or completed hardware and replace or repair as needed.
  • Properly stack and tag assembled hardware on buggy in accordance to guidelines for maximum quantities as related to safe handling procedures.
  • Maintain clean and organized work station.
  • Assist others when necessary.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) should be worn at all times within the department as well as throughout the plant where designated. Safety is enforced each day to prevent any accidents.

  • Always ensure proper lifting techniques: avoid bending and twisting at the waist whenever possible.
  • Inspect tools and protective equipment before use.
  • Learn the hazards of the equipment and procedures used on the job.
  • Report any defective, malfunctioning, or suspicious tool, machine, or protective equipment immediately.
  • Participate in safety training and safety meetings.
  • Report any hazards or risks related to policies or procedures.
